Young Choristers Sing Evensong
Sunday, Nov. 12
St. Peter's Episcopal Church
You are invited to a service of Choral Evensong sung by the boy and girl choristers of Grace and St. Peter’s Episcopal Churches. Evensong is a service of scripture, prayer, and music. This combined event will take place at St. Peter's in Ladue.
Both Grace Church and St. Peter’s have choirs for young people affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music. The choirs will be conducted by Phillip Brunswick, the Organist and Choir Master at Grace Church. The organist will be David Sinden, the Organist and Director of Music at St. Peter’s. Next year, we hope to sing a joint Evensong at Grace Church.
In the Anglican choral tradition, composers have written music for various combinations of voices. These are particularly useful in places that sing Evensong daily (so that one group or another can have a day off). At this service, the choristers will be singing music written for treble voices in unison.
We have reached the point in the year when Evensong begins after the sun sets. By the light of candles, we hear the Word of God and sing psalms, canticles, and hymns in response. We hope you will join us for worship and fellowship with our fellow Episcopalians from St. Peter's at this special service.
