Don't Leave Home Without It -- Traveling in Jim Crow America with The Green Book
Women of Grace
Guest Speaker Shug Goodlow
Tuesday, Jan. 16
During the height of segregation and Jim Crow America, many African Americans relied on "The Negro Motorist Green Book," a guide that informed travelers of the safest places to eat, sleep and even get a haircut when on the open road.
The Women of Grace is pleased to welcome Shug Goodlow, activist, actor and head verger at Christ Church Cathedral, to our church for a special presentation about this book. All are invited to enjoy fellowship and learn more about this remarkable publication that helped a generation as they faced prejudice and danger because of their skin color.
The presentation begins at 1 p.m., with a brown bag lunch at noon for anyone who would like to come. Drinks and desserts will be provided. This event is free and open to all!
