Appeal for COVID-19 Masks
Can you sew? ECW needs you!
The women of St. Francis in Eureka, MO have received a request to sew COVID-19 masks for St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO and are asking for help in meeting this request. The need is great and we know we can count on the good people of the Episcopal Diocese to help. The volunteer coordinator at St. Luke’s stated they will need 5,000 masks per day within the next couple of weeks. Since these will be cloth, they can be laundered in their facility, but that means they easily will need 10,000 to 15,000 masks to cover their needs.
Are you up for the challenge?Because we are concerned for everyone’s safety and social distancing, we will distribute kits which will have enough materials for make 24 - 25 masks, complete with instructions from St. Luke’s on how they are to be assembled. We will drop the kits at your door and pick them up when finished to distribute to this hospital, not having any face to face contact. It will not take too much of your time and will be a wonderful way to BE the Church in these trying times.
Please consider helping our health workers as they take care of the health of the community. This project needs to be a quick turnaround as the hospitals are anticipating the surge in cases in the next couple of weeks.
Please contact Deborah Caby to volunteer to sew masks.
If you are unable to sew and want to support St. Francis in this grassroots ministry, you can send a donation for any amount to cover the costs of supplies. Please send donations, marking MASKS in the memo line, directly to:
