Christian Formation Ministry Opportunities

To some are given the gift and ministry of teaching and nurturing others as they grow in faith. Grace offers Christian formation classes on Sunday mornings at for everyone ages 4 and older, so there are a variety of needs to be met by variety of people and talents. Training and curricula will be provided.

Sunday School Teacher

Teaching teams plan lessons (with provided curriculum) and lead Sunday classes. Each team can work out your own schedule to meet the needs of your personal calendar. Ages include: Pre-K & K; 1-3 grades; 4-5 grades; middle school.

Who – All adults are welcome to participate.

When – Sunday Mornings during the school year. There is also one meeting a month and an initial training at the beginning of the year. Each team can work out your own schedule to meet the needs of your personal calendar.

Time Involved – About 5 hours a month.

Qualifications – Completion of Safeguarding God’s Children Program and a criminal background check

Sunday School Assistant:

Assistants work with a team to greet students & families, set-up class materials, set-up snacks and complete other duties to support the classroom teacher. Each team can work out your own schedule to meet the needs of your personal calendar. Ages include: Pre-K & K; 1-3 grades; 4-5 grades; middle school.

Who – All adults and High School students are welcome to participate.

When – Sunday Mornings during the school year. There is also one meeting a month and an initial training at the beginning of the year. Each team can work out your own schedule to meet the needs of your personal calendar.

Time Involved – About 4 hours a month.

Qualifications – Completion of Safeguarding God’s Children Program and a criminal background check for anyone over age 18.

Church School Special Events:

We need creative-types and organizers to help plan and carry out special events, including our open house & welcome breakfast; pizza, pumpkins & prayers; Advent event; Holy Communion event; Easter egg hunt; end of the year celebration… and more!

Who – All are welcome to participate.

When – As special events are scheduled throughout the year.

Time Involved – As much or as little as you are able to give.

Qualifications – Completion of Safeguarding God’s Children Program and a criminal background check for anyone over age 18.

Confirmation Mentor:

Be a friend and mentor to one of our youth confirmation students throughout the year. Occasional class attendance (1st & 2nd Sundays of each month @ 9 a.m.) is required.

Who – All confirmed adults are welcome to participate.

When – Mentors are asked to attend a training class and a minimum four confirmation classes during the year and the Confirmation service.

Time Involved – 10 – 20 hours per year.

Qualifications – Completion of Safeguarding God’s Children Program and a criminal background check.

Mission Trip Team:

Work with leadership to plan and carry out our annual youth mission trip. Duties include researching and planning the trip details, organizing youth fundraising activities, planning and attending youth team-building events, and attending the trip as a chaperone.

Who – All high school students and adult volunteers are welcome to participate.

When – The trip is typically held the first full week of June each year. Planning and fundraising activities are scheduled throughout the year.

Time Involved – One week for the Mission trip and other times as scheduled.

Qualifications – Completion of Safeguarding God’s Children Program and a criminal background check for adult participants.
