We invite you to our Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper next Tuesday evening, February 21, from 5:15 to 7:00 p.m. This is a wonderful and fun way to share a meal and visit with one another. Each year at this parish-wide event for all ages we serve about 80 – 120 people. Not only is it fun, it’s cheap and the food is delicious! Cost is only $5 for adults (age 12 and over) and $3 for children, with a family maximum of $16. We’ll serve pancakes (of course!), sausage, applesauce, coffee and milk.
Time:
6:30pm - 6:40pm
Location:
Narthex
Description:
Come be part of this brief and poignant service of reflection and preparation for Lent as we burn last year’s Palm Sunday fronds to use for this year’s Ash Wednesday ashes. . If you still have the palm fronds you received last year, bring them! We’ll gather in the narthex at 6:30; come early or stay late for the pancake supper. (This service only lasts for about 10 mins., so don’t be late or you’ll miss it!)

Description:
The First Sunday in Lent, February 26, 2012 is designated by the Bishop as Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) Sunday. Lent was officially named as a time to encourage Episcopalians to remember and support Episcopal Relief and Development’s lifesaving work. On February 26 we will pray for those who are suffering worldwide; and we are invited to reflect and consider how we might follow Christ in healing a hurting world, as well as committing to making daily offerings toward this mission. Hope chest boxes will be available in the Narthex during Lent to receive your daily offering; put something in each day to thank God for your blessings. On April 15 (Second Sunday after Easter), we will have an ERD ingathering at all services so we can return our daily offerings or write a check (payable to Grace Episcopal Church – Lenten ERD). Special envelopes will be available in the pew racks to receive your gifts.
Thank God for all our blessings, “for it is in giving that we receive.”
