Thanks-giving: The Heart of Stewardship
On November 1, 2014
by Marty O’Leary
Paul tells us that we have been given the gift of grace through Jesus Christ, the gifts of faith, forgiveness and life, and the Holy Spirit to guide and sustain us.
How do we respond to such a gift?
By Thanks-giving — and Thanks-giving is at the heart of our stewardship. Thanksgiving for our lives and for all the gifts we have been given.
We have gifts that come from God’s abundance. Let us celebrate by showing grateful appreciation for these gifts God has given us. Be grateful for even the smallest gift from God.
Stewardship is about taking what we have been given and sharing it with others — responding to the needs around us.
The ingathering of pledges to support Grace and our ministries in 2015 will take place at the 8:00 and 10:00 services on All Saints’ Day, Sunday, Nov. 2.
So when you think of Stewardship — think abundant grace, think gratefulness, think appreciation, and think Thanks-giving.
