holiday light recyclingGrace Episcopal Church is once again participating in a holiday light recycling drive, sponsored by St. Louis Green. The non-profit partners with Walmart to provide recycling bins at more than 500 collection sites. “Our goal this year is 128,000 pounds,” said St. Louis Green founder, Craig Jung. “That’s four tractor trailer loads diverted from landfills.”

Once collected, the lights will be recycled and sent back to manufacturers to be used in new products. A portion of the drive proceeds will go to Operation Food Search, a St. Louis area food bank.

As you decorate your home this year, don’t throw away your unwanted holiday lights! You will find the recycling bin near the back door (north side) of Grace Church. Drop your tangled and broken strings into the bin and help us create a more sustainable world. The bin will be at Grace through January 12. This recycling event is sponsored by Grace’s Creation Care Ministry.
