confirmation 2013 (small)

Bishop Smith and Grace members at last year’s confirmation service.

What does it mean to be an Episcopalian — and why should I want to be one?

We’ll explore answers to that question and many others in this year’s confirmation program. All students in 8th grade or older and their parents are invited to our first class on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 5 p.m. We’ll share a light dinner, review our calendar for the year and begin our journey toward confirmation.

Classes will meet on the second Sunday of each month throughout the year. We also encourage all students to participate in our weekly Sunday school classes. Our program will also include service projects and an overnight spring retreat.

The Book of Common Prayer defines the sacrament of confirmation as “the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.” (BCP, p. 860)

Fr. Todd, Mo. Doris and Christian Formation Director Janis Greenbaum will help guide the students throughout the year as they explore their faith and (hopefully) decide to be confirmed by Bishop Smith on May 17 at Christ Church Cathedral.

For more information about our confirmation program or to RSVP for the class, please contact Janis Greenbaum in the church office.
