Todd - announcements_optWe are pleased to welcome three experienced priests who will be assisting our rector, the Rev. Todd McDowell, over the next few months.

The Rev. Al Jewson, the Rev. Helen Ludbrook and the Rev. Jim Purdy will be working with Fr. Todd to lead worship services, make pastoral visits and participate in various aspects in the life of our parish.

Our previous Associate Rector, the Rev. Rebecca Dinovo, was called to become the rector of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Milwaukie, OR. These three priests will be with us through our transitional period.

Al Jewson 200 x 259The Rev. Al Jewson was born in St. Louis in 1943. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest in 1969 and served in a large parish in St. Charles County. After several years of church work and teaching simultaneously, Fr. Al experienced burn-out and left the active ministry. He went on to work in the health care field for more than 20 years. Fr. Al married Dayna in 1988 and became a member of the Episcopal Church. He was received as a priest in the Episcopal Diocese of West Missouri, where he served in parish ministry until his retirement.

helen ludbrook 200 x 243The Rev. Helen Ludbrook is a former member of Grace Church, where she served on the staff overseeing the church school program. She went to seminary and graduated from the University of the South in 1984. After being ordained, she served as curate at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Creve Coeur and then became Associate Rector at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Ellisville, where she served for 20 years until her retirement. Helen’s sons Chris and Greg and their families are currently members at Grace.

jim purdy 200 x 239The Rev. James (Jim) Purdy was born in Trenton, NJ. He comes from a long line of Episcopalians — his father was a priest and his grandfather was a priest. Jim became a priest in 1970 and went on to serve in several parishes in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Maryland. Jim came to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ladue in 1998, where he served as rector until his retirement in 2011. Jim is married and has two children.
