In response to the feedback we have been receiving recently, the clergy, staff, and Church School Committee would like to announce a new trial schedule to our Church School program starting Sunday, September 9. We hope this will better meet the needs of our families and we invite your feedback as we try this new schedule throughout the Fall of 2012. (Please respond in the form below or contact Mo. Rebecca.)

The new schedule means that Church School for ages PreK-8th grade will begin at 9:45 a.m. in their classrooms (Godly Play, Bible Discovery or Rite 13). It will overlap with the 10:00 a.m. service until just before Communion, when the children will be brought into the church to join their families. If parents are unable to be in the service, the children will sit with their teachers. This will enable families to have both the experience of worship and Communion together (“Liturgy of the Table”), while at the same time offering instruction about the Bible for children at an age-appropriate level during the readings and sermon time (“Liturgy of the Word”).

Adult Formation will still be offered at 9 a.m. For parents who want to participate but need childcare then, we will provide a children’s activity (infants-5th grade) with Becki Huels until the children can join their classrooms at 9:45 a.m. Youth (6th grade and older) are welcome at the Adult Formation classes as well. Children in the choir or bell choir will have rehearsals as usual.

Please let us know if you have thoughts or questions as we make a trial run of this new schedule. Mother Rebecca, Peggy Capriglione, Tina Roche and Fr. Todd are all available and eager to discuss this change with you. Your feedback is important so that we can determine if we are, in fact, meeting the needs of our families here at Grace.
