Thanks to the Diocese of Missouri underwriting the workshop, the cost is just $20 per person and covers all materials and lunch.

The workshop will cover mentoring children, the structure of session/adult roles, stories from three genres, and story practice. It is geared to current or prospective teachers, parents, grandparents, clergy and anyone interested in learning more about this Christian formation program. There is something in this workshop for both new and experienced Godly Play teachers!

Godly Play is based upon the recognition that children have an innate sense of the presence of God. All they lack is the appropriate language to help them identify and express it so it can be explored and strengthened. The Godly Play approach teaches classical Christian language in a way that enhances the child’s authentic experience of God so it can contribute to the creative life of the child and the world.

Kathleen Capcara has been working for 18 years to help establish Godly Play in churches. She has led seminars for parents and educators in a variety of settings – from national conferences and retreats, to both large and small congregations across the country. In addition to developing promotional and training materials for the Godly Play method, she has worked as the Director of Christian Education for several churches in Maryland. We are very excited to have her in our diocese and grateful to the Diocese of Missouri for their assistance in bringing her.
