General Convention brings together clergy and lay deputies to meet, discuss and vote on important issues facing our church throughout the nation and around the world. Oftentimes our decisions and actions make news as reporters gather from all corners to cover this gathering.
The governing structure of the Episcopal Church is much the same as that of our country’s government. You can find out what happens at General Convention, get legislative resources and learn about the deputies and exhibitors at the official General Convention website. The Diocese of Texas also put together an informative illustrated booklet that helps explain what happens at General Convention.
You can keep up with what’s happening during General Convention by visiting the blog from the Diocese of Missouri’s Deputation. The innovative Media Hub, developed and produced by the Episcopal Church Office of Communication, will bring the 77th General Convention 2012 to all people, wherever they may be. Fr. Todd and Mo. Rebecca attended a portion of the General Convention in Indianapolis and are happy to discuss the event and the many resolutions passed there. Read a wrap-up of all the highlights from Episcopal News Service.
