Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women over the age of 25, but many don’t make their own health a priority.

For those of you who don’t know, my mother Janet Murphy Heyer died last October of heart disease. She suffered a heart attack just four days after visiting us for my son’s 1st birthday party and died two weeks later. We had no idea of the damage that was already done to her heart until it was too late.

Please help me in my effort to fight heart disease in women by donating to the American Heart Association. I will be walking in my mother’s name in the 2012 Heart Walk at Theis Park (in Kansas City) on May 19. My goal is to raise $1,000 in support of the effort to fight heart disease.

If you’d like to make a donation, please visit this website: heartwalk.kintera.org/kansascity/janetheyer.

Thank you for your support in fighting heart disease!
