On Sunday, March 11, our 2012 confirmation class traveled to the Central West End with Mo. Rebecca, Chris Kurth, and  chaperone Sandy Padgett to serve a hot lunch to our homeless neighbors who gather every week at Trinity Episcopal Church.  The class has been studying the Baptismal Covenant and had just learned about our call to “seek and serve Christ in all persons”  and had the chance to put their learning into action.  After an opening prayer and loading up the van with food, they served a hot lunch of pot roast, mashed potatoes, green beans, and brownies. Chris Kurth prepared most of the food except for the brownies which are prepared by “an angel.” At Trinity, the class spent time setting up tables and table ware, preparing plates of food, waiting on tables , and cleaning up/tearing down.  Afterward they had a “debriefing” session to talk about their experience.  They agreed that it “felt good” to help others in a tangible way and were impressed with all the gratitude and thanks expressed by those who received the lunch.
