Grace Episcopal Church is becoming a “Good Shepherd Sponsor” to help provide services to older adults in our community.

The Shepherd Center is an interfaith volunteer organization serving the Kirkwood  and Webster Groves areas. The Center is based in The Christian Life Center of Webster Hills United Methodist Church. We are excited about what they are doing and want to fully support this program to better serve our many seniors.  The Center has a transportation ministry with more than 100 volunteer drivers who drove more than 500 people to medical appointments last year.  They have a program called “Adventures in Learning” which offers programs in everything from Tai Chi and Yoga to water colors and book reviews every Friday morning!  They even have a “Handy Hands program” for minor home repairs and do spring and fall lawn clean-ups. There are too many wonderful resources and opportunities to list!

As a sponsoring congregation we agree to offer:

Spiritual Support
We will share with Shepherd’s Center concern for older adults in our community. We will regularly pray and/or express our spiritual support for Shepherd’s Center, for the volunteers, the services they provide, and those they serve.

Participation
As Congregational Caring Connection Members we will strive to attend quarterly Congregational Caring Connection meetings and share information with each other.  We will make public announcements to inform our congregation of programs, services, needs, and opportunities for service.

Resources
We will support Shepherd’s Center as we are able with the resources available to us (volunteers, facilities, creative ideas and monies).  We, as a sponsoring congregation, declare and affirm our involvement and support in this ministry.

Our own Senior Warden, Dick Entenmann, has recently become a Board Member of the Shepherd Center to help keep us informed and connected. This is an exciting new step for Grace!

Please check out their website to see the many wonderful opportunities available.
